The Arabian Sea, Oman

It’s hard to pick my favorite place in Oman because there are so many. The one that connects our first time living there to our second is what our kiddos called the “Rocky Beach”.

The Rocky Beach, Muscat, Oman

This was the place we would go to pray early in the mornings. It’s not the prettiest of beaches but it is significant. Many tears were shed here as we prayed for our kiddos, our families far away, and our youth group. When a hurricane hit in 2007, our little prayer rocks got buried, and with it, the end of an era.

When we returned to live in Oman in 2011, we were hunting for our prayer rocks. They were nowhere to be found and were most likely still buried under the sand.

Three years into our time there, we thought we had found them! While it’s hard to know for sure, something in me longed for this to be them.

In an instant my memory transports me back to a time and place where our faith in God was forged. It was on this beach where the Psalms became alive to us as we read them. Through hard times, mistreatment, and spiritual abuse, we dug deep into our faith. It was the place where we continued our early morning prayers for our kiddos, our families who were again far away, and our youth group who were now young adults!

I love this place!
